Cows Gone Wild

This is a picture of our neighbors cow who has been loose all summer.

This is a picture of our neighbors cow who has been loose all summer. She looks to be an Black Angus cow.

Actually its just one cow who has gone wild. Earlier this spring we came home and this black cow was in our yard and as soon as we pulled up she jumped back over the fence to our neighbors pasture where she belongs. I have never seen a cow so athletic as her. Since then we have seen her here many times on our 40 acres. The neighbor has tried to round her up several times using ATV’s and horses but she keeps  eluding them. When this first started she would only go back to her pasture when she felt like visiting the other cows and now she hardly goes back at all. She thinks she is a deer and only comes out to feed where we can see her in the evening.

I hope I don’t mistake her for a deer when deer season rolls around next month:)

So funny, Gordon! You don’t have cows, but you have a cow. Obviously the grass is greener on your side of the fence! You might want to see if he’ll let you keep her since she seems very smart to figure out, why should she share grass with everyone when she can have it all to herself?! 🙂

    • Thanks Susan, actually the grass is greener over here because we don’t have any cows eating it down and pooping and peeing on the grass like the pasture where she came from. The grass is really short, the guy doesn’t do rotational grazing so we don’t blame her for wanting to be on our side of the fence. I thought about fencing her in but she would just jump it anyway so I thought that wouldn’t work. We hadn’t seen her lately, but she left me a cow pie in our driveway this morning to let us know she is still around.

You need to get your neighbor a copy of any of Joel Salatin’s books and get him to rotate his pastures, lol. Poor cow!

Maybe the grass is greener on your side of the fence! Hope you all are doing well…

  3. Hi Tammy, we are doing great and we hope that you are doing the same. Thanks for stopping buy and commenting.

We have a four string barb wire fence around the back of our property. Yesterday morning twenty cows were standing at our back fence twenty yards from our house. Sound like someone needs to find a cowboy to lasso this cow.
